Christy Marin

Digital Technology Senior Director, Governance & Strategy

GE Appliances, a Haier Company

Christy Marin has nearly 30 years of experience in the Technology industry. She holds a Master of Engineering in Engineering Math & Computer Science from the University of Louisville.  Throughout her career, she embraces challenges and opportunities for continuous learning, taking roles that would build both breadth and depth in technical skills, business knowledge and leadership. She is known for setting expectations for excellence, sharing best practices, and striving to do the right thing even when it is not an easy path.

She began her professional career as a Computer Specialist at the Army Corps of Engineers, providing services ranging from Help Desk support, database design, coding for process automation, and even physical network cabling.

She joined General Electric in 1998 serving in a variety of roles supporting and leading global organizations in Information Technology.  In her first role as an analyst, owning support for Supply Chain business applications, she focused on strengthening controls in operations to avoid unplanned business disruption. Next, she moved to a project leader role, implementing purchased and custom-built business software for Technology & Engineering.  As the Six Sigma methodology became a focal point for the company, she moved to a Black Belt role within the GE Consumer Products business, leading process and technology improvement projects for Field Service, and consolidation projects for Finance to support multiple GE business mergers.

In 2004, she moved into the first of two Team Leader management roles (Finance, Marketing) in GE Consumer & Industrial, gaining valuable experience with talent and budget management, influence with peers and upper management, and strategic and tactical decision-making.  In 2008, she was promoted to the first of five Executive Director roles within GE Home & Business Solutions (Marketing Digitization, Six Sigma, HR, Sales, Distribution & Fulfillment, ERP). She gained valuable experience related to design decisions and implementation approaches when integrating multi-business technology and infrastructure.

In 2016, she became Senior Director, Enterprise Analytics and Reporting with GE Appliances, a Haier Company, leading a shared services team (Data Mgmt., Advanced Analytics, Business Intelligence) before taking on her current role as Senior Director, Governance & Strategy, helping to protect and enable Digital Business transformation through Enterprise Architecture & Portfolio Management, Security, Data Privacy, and Risk & Compliance.

A key learning she would share from her experiences is the tremendous value gained as a result of ensuring diversity exists in interview slates, functional teams, initiatives and organizations. It enhances and accelerates personal, professional and company growth well beyond what one can imagine.
