2023-24 Social Impact Projects

The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana is to provide the home and support that allows families to stay together while they focus on the healing of their sick children at a critical time. RockIT Women is collecting money to help prepare and serve meals to families! To get involved donate below or contact Shannon@rockitwomen.com.

Each year we collect items to keep people’s feet warm and dry and donate them to a local charity. This year, we will be donating items to WaterStep.

By donating your new and gently used shoes for us to take to WaterStep, you’ll help fund safe drinking water projects all over the world — projects that help to save hundreds of thousands of lives each year. In addition to funding water projects, donated shoes keep hundreds of tons of waste out of our landfills. We accept gently used shoes that are free of mold/mildew. Athletic shoes are preferred, but we will accept all styles of shoes. Shoes are sold to an exporter and funds received help bring clean water to those in need.

2022 Social Impact Projects

The mission of Dress for Success is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

The Louisville affiliate of Dress for Success was founded in 2000 after a national news program brought attention to the organization, started in New York City. Two Louisville women were motivated to bring the services and career development opportunities to the women in the Kentuckiana community. Since that time, the Louisville chapter has assisted more than 16,500 women from over 90 partner agencies including Goodwill of Kentucky, Louisville Central Community Center, Kentucky Career Center, Beside U for Life and the Louisville Urban League.

Dress for Success Louisville now serves Jefferson, Oldham, Bullitt, Spencer, Shelby, Henry, Meade, Nelson and Trimble counties in Kentucky and Clark, Floyd, Harrison and Washington in Indiana.

For more information about their programs, volunteer opportunities, clothing or financial donations, or events, contact email or call 502-584-8050.

This year, you can purchase gently used clothes from Dress for Success during Ladies Night Out event on December 12, 2022 to help them raise funds.

Operation Happy Feet Logo

According to a report by the Coalition for the Homeless during 2021, 10,640 people in our community were living in shelters (55%), only staying inside for extreme weather (10%), or living on streets or elsewhere (35%). That leaves 3,724 people in our community without shelter during the cold winter months.

We asked community shelters and others working with the homeless population what we could collect that might be helpful. Across the board, they wanted new, clean, warm, dry socks.

Therefore, we will be collecting socks at our Ladies Night Out event on December 12, 2022 and at our annual conference on December 13, 2022.

Help us make some happy feet! Pick up extra socks between now and the events and bring them with you. We will make sure they are delivered to local shelters and organizations who can get them on the feet of individuals who need them most.

2021 Social Impact Project

For our 2020 social outreach project, the Women in Tech Louisville Conference will partnered with Tech-Nique. $5 from every ticket to the conference that was purchased in June 2020 was donated to this outstanding non-profit organization.

TECH-Nique’s mission is to create a world where the voices and experiences of underrepresented minorities are welcomed and celebrated in the field of technology and where members of these groups feel empowered not just to be consumers of technology, but also creators and LEADERS in the technology field.

TECH-Nique is creating an ecosystem of support and opportunity. After graduating from our programs, participants are invited to become part of the TECH-Nique leadership team, serving as near-peer mentors, facilitators, and role models to younger participants as they continue their foray into technology.

In addition to financial donation, RockIT Women created a variety of opportunities to support this program, including opportunities fo some of their participants to attend the conference at no charge.
