Volunteering offers countless benefits, both to the individual and the community. It provides an opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of others, fostering a sense of fulfillment and purpose. Through volunteering, you can develop new skills, expand your networks, and gain valuable experience, which can enhance personal and professional growth. Here are just a few of the areas where you can get plugged in and get involved:
Events - Help plan our monthly webinars, fun social events, coffee connections, and more.
Social Media and Marketing - Help the marketing team with content, design marketing materials, and help spread the word about the events and programs.
Non-Profit Give Back - Each year we pick a non-profit in the local community to support and give back. Help choose the charity and work with the charity throughout the year to engage the RockIT members and community.
Mentor Program - Volunteers are needed to ensure the success of the program. Help with mentor/mentee pairing, monthly communication with the group, plan activities, and provide support when needed.
Conference Planning -The 2024 WIT Conference just ended, but we are already gearing up for the planning of 2025 WIT. This committee meets virtually once a month to brainstorm ideas and discuss ways to improve the annual conference. We meet on the Third Thursday of the month from 8:30-9:00 am.
Speaker Committee - The speakers are what can make or break the conference. A ton of time is put into finding the “right” speakers. Help identify and interview potential speakers and topics for the 2025 WIT conference.
Student Ambassador - Help get more women into tech careers by encouraging high school and college young women to come to the annual conference where they will see and be inspired by women in tech. Student Ambassadors help by sharing information with schools, bringing students themselves, and/or sponsoring students. Ambassadors also play an important role at the conference by helping the students feel welcome. You might sit with a student, introduce them to people, or go with them to breakout sessions.
