Venus Marum
Venus has spent 30 years in I.T. beginning with COBOL programming at Vocational School during her Junior/Senior year of High School. Since those high school days, she has held positions crossing I.T. from Helpdesk Technician, Application Developer, Technology Business Consultant, Project/Program Manager, Scrum Master, and Vendor Technology Manager.
Today, Venus is a Technology Services Leader at Humana, Inc., in the Business Technology Leadership team. She is accountable for ensuring the Voice Platform/Omni-Channel portfolios achieve strategic and tactical objectives for the enterprise. She has been with Humana for 8 years and attributes her success to dedication, determination, networking groups, and mentorship. She has had many mentors (formal/informal) along the way and can’t thank them enough. Her motto is, “Learn something New and Pay I.T. Forward”. People say, “knowledge is power”, and she believes in sharing and lifting others up. Her inspiration comes from visiting the “Girls Who Code” club from Southern High School (her Alma mater) and remembering what it was it was like to be a young girl interested in Computer Science.
On a personal note, Venus is married to her high school sweetheart Eric. They have two boys, Drew (18) and Tyler (15), a dog named Wolfie and a cat named MoonPπ (yep, you read that right, as in the mathematical equation).
She and Eric love to travel, spend time with friends & family, and listen to live music. In her spare time, she sits on the Board of Directors as VP for the Kentucky Hemophilia Foundation, a charity with a personal connection.
