Kelly Powers

Director – Application Engineering

Waystar

Kelly Powers is a self-taught software developer with just over 10 years of experience with a primary focus on front-end web development and performance. She made a career change from an administrative assistant to a developer based off the need to support her four children as a single mother and satisfy her desire for lifelong learning and growth. Her employer at the time, JP Morgan Chase, took a chance on that transition based off of her commitment, attitude, and drive. She spent three years gaining experience as a .NET engineer before landing an opportunity at Waystar (formerly ZirMed) and moved from Columbus, Ohio to Louisville, Kentucky. Over the last 7 years, she has worked hard to advance her career from a full stack .NET Application Engineer, to an Application Engineering Manager, and now to her current role as Director, Application Engineering. She currently leads four engineering teams representing Data Science and Analytics, Data Licensing, and Prior Authorizations She remains committed to being a passionate, people-focused servant leader to 3 managers and 25 team members; providing them with unwavering encouragement and mentorship to reach their highest potential while making the technical leadership decisions to help grow these Waystar products. She works hard each day to demonstrate that ‘the limit to your abilities is where you place it’ and tries to empower others to adjust to the same mindset.
