Dr. Juanita J. (JJ) Wallace is an Associate Professor of Health and Exercise Science and Program Director at Transylvania University in Lexington, KY. A native of Harlan County, Kentucky, JJ earned her undergraduate degree in Physical Education from Berea College, her master’s in Exercise Science from Eastern Kentucky University, and her Ph.D. in Biomechanics from the University of Kentucky. Before entering higher education, she spent seven years as a kinesiologist at Shriners Hospitals for Children Medical Center, specializing in pediatric motion analysis.

Her academic work blends health sciences, liberal arts, and technology, with a focus on engaged learning strategies and the integration of emerging tools like extended reality (XR) and artificial intelligence (AI). She has shared her research and pedagogical practices at conferences nationwide and has led both in-person and virtual workshops exploring the role of technology in education and professional practice.

JJ currently resides in Lexington, KY, with her wife and three cats.
