Manager, Application Engineering
ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Manager, Application Engineering is responsible for managing a team of brilliant Application Engineers and QA resources who are focused on unlocking the full potential of multiple project teams across Waystar’s organization. Our Managers are willing to jump in and roll their sleeves up in order to get the job done and are certainly highly technical.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Manages all day-to-day activities of the team
Conducts People Operations responsibilities for all assigned team members, including performance reviews, disciplinary action, etc.
Schedules projects and resources, and monitors project timelines; will ultimately be accountable for the success or failure of all team projects
Motivates and provides guidance to team members to accomplish team goals through counseling, performance reviews, mentoring, and team building activities
Coaches high level team members; ensures they are force multipliers that benefit multiple technology teams across multiple disciplines
Works with the Business Product Owners to identify priorities for projects in areas including (but not limited to): rapid application development and process efficiency
Works closely and cohesively with other Managers within Technology, as well as with key stakeholders in related departments
Defines and refines department best practices, implementing policies and procedures related to application quality, standards, and testing
Works with technology teams looking to bring change into the organization by refining their requests and presenting them for architectural review
Technical capabilities are on par with an application architect
Plays an integral part in establishing, driving, and enhancing processes and procedures within the team, and within the Technology department as a whole
Routinely provides hands-on, on location training and guidance to multiple team members across the organization
Establishes priorities for Architects on this team, and works to remove barriers within the organization to allow them to act as change agents

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
7+ years of .NET and SQL Server experience
3+ years’ experience as a Technical Lead/Lead Engineer
Unit Testing experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a very fast-paced environment & welcome change
Highly self-motivated
Ability to work both in team and solo environments
Experience building highly scalable software solutions
Subject Matter Expertise in 3+ technical tracks
Ability to run a team of 3+ team members
Able to plan and initiate multi-quarter projects with a full project team
Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience
Prior managerial experience preferred
Experience developing solutions for SAAS infrastructure also preferred
