2015 Conference
Stand up for what you believe in, even if you have some naysayers along the way.
When Shannon Fehr first came up with the idea to have a conference just for women in technology, many people questioned if she would be able to even fill a room. They said things like, “Are there that many women in tech?” and “Will anyone come?”
The first event in 2015 maxed out the room at Churchill Downs with 110 women and exceeded all expectations, The event was the largest event in Shannon’s 10 years at boice.net, a technology company in New Albany, Indiana. The two-hour long luncheon included two keynote speakers, a fireside chat and a panel discussion.
Not long after this first event, Shannon left the IT company and founded Bliss Events, a wedding planning business. However, she never forgot the energy and excitement felt at the first Women in Technology Louisville Conference. So, in 2017 Shannon created Fehr Event Group and started working on the second WITLOU Event.
Today, Shannon looks back on the first event in 2015 as a reminder to take chances and to stand up for what you believe in, even if you have some naysayers along the way.
